PEMBROKE -- Junior guard Shahmel Brackett became the 28th member of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke's 1,000-point club in the first half of Saturday's game against Montevallo.
The Florence, S.C. native joined the elite fraternity at the 7:42 mark of the first half with a 3-pointer from the top of the key.
Play was stopped a minute later and Brackett was recognized with the game ball.
He's the first Brave to accomplish the feat since Jarrell Hunter in 2008. Hunter ended his career with 1,040 total points.
