FAIRMONT — The town will hold a jobs and business support summit on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in the downtown historic district’s Heritage Center.

Members of the Mayor’s JOBS (Job Opportunities and Support) team who will participate include: Bob Moore of Robeson Community College; Beth Wilkerson and Johnny Marshburn of SBTDC; Michael Ramey and Jan Maynor of Lumber River Council of Governments; Greg Cummings, Robeson County’s industrial recruitment director; LaNell Grissom, a Procurement Technical Assistance Center counselor for the federal government; Town Manager Linda Vause; and Mayor Charles Kemp.

All business owners, managers and operators in the town are invited to attend.

The JOBS team members will offer advice and provide grant information, statistical data, and contact information for businesses. There will be a panel discussion, and then an open discussion session where any member of the business community can make suggestions and ask questions of the panel members.

At the conclusion of the meeting refreshments will be served.

The JOBS team was created by Kemp in September. The group meets monthly to develop ways of supporting local businesses and create local jobs.

Currently, the team is assisting the town in developing a strategic plan.
