Jobs summit set for Jan. 31
FAIRMONT — A jobs and business summit will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Fairmont Heritage Center.
All Fairmont businesses are invited to send representatives to the summit, which will focus on supporting local businesses and creating jobs. Members of the JOBS team — Job Opportunities and Business Support — and a federal official will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

Maintenance man awarded
MAXTON — Tim Hunt, the maintenance caretaker of Baldwin Place and Brookside Apartments in Maxton, recently received the Outstanding Maintenance Caretaker Award.
The award, which recognizes professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication, was for the territory of Jeff Holoman. It was awarded during the Partnership Property Management annual awards banquet held in Florence, S.C.
Hunt has worked with Partnership Property Management since 2010.
LUMBERTON — Agriculture-business seminars will be held through February at Robeson Community College starting Monday.
The free seminars will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Building 9, Room 901. On Monday and Tuesday, the focus will be an introduction to business planning and exploring agricultural business ideas. Marketing and business operations will be discussed on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, business financial information will be discussed on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, and a wrap-up and business plan presentation will be held Feb. 13.
Participants will have the opportunity to compete in a business plan competition for a $1,000 prize. Individuals who attend all seven seminars will get a certificate.
