Tuesday's roundup: Fairmont cruises past St. Pauls

FAIRMONT — Draquine Floyd’s 12-point, 10-rebound double-double paced the Fairmont boys basketball team to a 69-40 Three Rivers Conference win over St. Pauls Tuesday.

After taking a slim 14-11 first-quarter lead, the Golden Tornadoes took a double-digit lead into halftime, 31-18, over the Bulldogs and kept the pace.

Chalton Townsend added 11 points for Fairmont (12-4, 5-0), which remains undefeated in Three Rivers play.

St Pauls (3-13, 2-2), which is on a three-game losing skid, was led by Deion Gilchrist’s 11 points.

Lady Bulldogs top Tornadoes

Bianca Palazzola scored 11 points as the St. Pauls girls basketball team handed Fairmont a 54-22 loss.

The Bulldogs (10-6, 6-0) remain undefeated in the TRC. Anasia Evans led Fairmont (4-9, 2-3) with eight points.

Lady Red Devils win in rout

D’Niqua Murphy scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Red Springs girls basketball team to a 60-29 Three Rivers Conference home win over West Columbus. Brittany Hawkins added nine points for the Red Devils (9-8, 3-2).
