To the Editor,

County Commissioner David Edge must be living in the Dark Ages or hiding under a rock! Obviously he has been MIA during the many years some of us have worked diligently to make certain our animals are treated in the manner they deserve.

I doubt he would like to be driving around in a vehicle without air conditioning and I doubt he would like to be taken to his death smothering in the back of a truck so hot he couldn’t breathe. We taxpayers pay for his gas, as well as the compensation he receives for sitting on a stage and feeling “important” for a brief period of time and I, for one, highly resent it and will do everything within my power to make certain he will never be voted back as a county commissioner or anything else; hopefully other citizens agree and will act accordingly.

Our animals have no choice and no voice but he does and he can be assured I am not the only one who feels this way. He should be supporting all efforts to end animal abuse and promote spaying/neutering which would help stop the number of unwanted animals in Robeson County — at least he would be contributing something positive. Has he bothered to read the state laws pertaining to animals? Obviously not and obviously he doesn’t care. I’ve never heard of him before but be assured he will soon know who Faith Walker is. It seems to make some people feel “important/like a man” to neglect/abuse our animals and it is abuse placing them in the back of a truck over 100 degrees and being there for very long periods of time, many times without water, and they suffer from heat strokes.

Euthanasia is a Greek word which means “Good Death” and should be the last act of kindness shown to our animals on this Earth. They should not be treated as property/trash as apparently David Edge feels they are. So very sad.

Thank you, Bill Smith, for realizing the importance of caring for our animals in the proper manner. It’s taken a long time to get “here” but you have helped tremendously to change the attitude of so many in Robeson County about the proper care of our animals.
