Bancorp sells

two branches

DUNN — New Century Bancorp, the parent company of New Century Bank, sold its two branches in Pembroke and Raeford to Lumbee Guaranty Bank on April 6.

Lumbee Guaranty Bank acquired all property, equipment, as well as other selected assets of the Pembroke and Raeford branches, in addition to assuming all associated deposits. New Century Bank retains the majority of loans associated with the two branches.

Tuesday is

last day to file

LUMBERTON — For taxpayers who have not yet filed their taxes, the deadline to do so is Tuesday and the free software to prepare and e-file taxes, IRS Free File, is available for those who make $57,000 or less.

Taxpayers who can’t make the deadline can request an extension through IRS Free File by visiting www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html and selecting “browse the list of Free File companies.”

For information, visit www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=256179,00.html.

The deadline is normally April 15, but that fell on a Sunday this year, and April 16 is a holiday in Washington, D.C.
