Pow wow set

this weekend

LUMBERTON — The Lumbee Tribe this weekend will hold its annual spring pow wow, “Dance of the Spring Moon,” at the Southeastern Agricultural Center and Farmers Market in Lumberton.

Gates open at 5 p.m. today, with the grand entry beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 10 a.m. with the grand entry at noon, and Sunday gates open at 11 a.m. with the grand entry at 1 p.m.

The pow wow will be include traditional singing and dance competitions, as well as a variety of vendors.

Admission is $7 for adults, and $5 for people 55 years and older and children. There is no admission charge for children younger than 5. For information, call 910-521-7861.

Pet Blessings

on Saturday

LUMBERTON — Evangelist Bobbie Parton will ask God’s blessing on pets on Saturday at 11 a.m. during a service in Luther Britt Park that is open to the public.

Attendees of all ages are invited to bring any pet, including dogs, cats, rabbits, frogs and goldfish. A separate prayer will be said for sick pets. For information, call Parton at 910-280-0639 or 910-272-0428.
