Rally set or June 16

PEMBROKE — The Healing Lodge’s fatherhood rally, “Let’s Make Us Whole,” will be held on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pembroke Recreation Complex on N.C. 711.

There will be a father and son look-a-like contest, a father and daughter look-a-like contest and the father and child sack race as well as food, live entertainment and face painting. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the competitions.

Terrell’s book

is finalist

LUMBERTON — Drake Valley Press has announced that Lumberton author p.m.terrell’s 13th book, “Vicki’s Key,” is a finalist in the 2012 International Book Awards.

The book starts the Black Swamp Mysteries Series, which is set in Lumberton and uses real locations and businesses as the fictional main characters find themselves in suspenseful situations. The book is also a nominee for the 2012 USA Best Book Awards.
