Free summer jam

concert on Saturday

PEMBROKE — The town of Pembroke and the Holiday Inn Express will host a free Summer Jam Concert on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Pembroke Recreation Complex at 7164 N.C. 711.

Bands scheduled to perform include Dark Water Rising, Henry Berry Band, Lakota John and Friends, PSRC Got Talent and Seventh Day Forgets.

Concessions will be available.

Planetarium to host

program Saturday

LUMBERTON — The Robeson Planetarium and Science Center will hold a program on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. observing the transit of Venus.

The program will project images from the telescope onto a screen. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children under 18.

Fatherhood rally

event set for June 16

PEMBROKE — The Healing Lodge’s fatherhood rally, “Let’s Make Us Whole,” will be held on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pembroke Recreation Complex on N.C. 711.

There will be a father and son look-a-like contest, a father and daughter look-a-like contest and the father and child sack race as well as food, live entertainment and face painting. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the competitions.
