PEMBROKE — The Healing Lodge’s fatherhood rally, “Let’s Make Us Whole,” will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pembroke Recreation Complex on N.C. 711.

There will be a father and son look-a-like contest, a father and daughter look-a-like contest and the father and child sack race as well as food, live entertainment and face painting. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the competitions.

PEMBROKE — The 31st Annual Lumbee Homecoming 5k Run and Fun Walk will be held on July 7 at Firsthealth Center for Health and Fitness at 923 W. Third St. Registration is from 6 to 7 a.m. and the race will begin at 7:15 a.m. The race honoring Agnes H. Chavis is coordinated by the Pembroke Kiwanis Club.

There will be trophies for first, second and third places in each age category. Advance registration is $15.00 at LRDA and is $20.00 on the event day. Participants get a free T-shirt. Walkers can participate at no cost.

LUMBERTON — Newtown Community Watch will be holding their 13th Annual Block Party on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the James T. Carter Park on Booker Street.

The party is sponsored by City Councilman John “Big Wayne” Robinson, the city of Lumberton and the Newtown Community. There will be free food and entertainment.

LUMBERTON — The Community Health Education center will host as “Smoothie Day” as part of Dairy Month on June 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, designed to promote the importance of dietary calcium rich foods, will offer opportunities to sample smoothies, nibble on healthy snacks, and pick up recipes and healthy nutrition tips.

There will also be a photo contest of the best milk mustache.

LUMBERTON — Sports Medicine Summer Camp will be held July 16 through July 20, from 8 a.m. until noon at the Southeastern Lifestyle Center — Rehab Services, 4895 Fayetteville Rd. High school students can learn the latest methods for preventing and managing sports injuries.

Each student will get individual instruction in taping techniques and first-aid procedures. The camp also offers contests, a T-shirt and a pizza party.

The cost is $25 and the deadline for registration is July 6. Class size is limited.
