Applications being taken
LUMBERTON — Applications are being accepted for the Linwood Singletary Memorial Scholarship presented by Robeson County Crop Promotion Association and funded by Robeson County Agribusinesses and the Singletary Family.
The scholarship is available to a Robeson County student who plans to pursue higher education and a career in agriculture within the state of North Carolina.
Applications can be picked up at the Robeson County Center or downloaded at robeson.ces.ncsu.edu. If mailed, applications need to be delivered to Kelly Archambault at P. O. Box 2280, Lumberton, N.C,. 28360.

Ivey gets SECU
scholarship
LUMBERTON — Stephanie Jean Ivey, a senior at St. Pauls High School, was recently awarded a $10,000 four-year college scholarship from the State Employees’ Credit Union for study at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
The scholarship recognizes the recipient’s community involvement, leadership skills, character and integrity. To be eligible, a student must maintain a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher.
Locklear
gets awards
LUMBERTON — Cassandra Michealea Locklear received the Mathematics Mastery Award and the Advanced Reader Award among third-graders at Rosenwald Ele-mentary School.
She is the daughter of Micheal and Sandra Locklear.
Strickland is
top volunteer
MAXTON — Sarah Strickland is the Communities in Schools volunteer for the month of June.
Stick-land is a teacher assistant at Townsend Middle School and has worked with students in Great Leaps, a supplemental reading program.
Two make
dean’s list
RALEIGH — Tieghlor Janyssek and Kayleigh Simmons, both of Lumberton, made the dean’s list at William Peace University.
To receive the distinction, a student must earn at least a 3.30 grade-point average for the semester.
