Members of the Ten Mile Center Baptist Church released 100 balloons to celebrate the 100th birthday of Magdalene C. Canady, of St. Pauls, on May 30. Canady, who worked as a teacher for Robeson County Public Schools, is one of the oldest living people to graduate from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She is the wife of the late Halmon Canady and the mother of Olivia C. Revels. She has two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a sister, Gladys Locklear.
