LUMBERTON — A Parkton woman and a St. Pauls teenager have died from injuries suffered in separate traffic accidents, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Michelle Lee Thrasher, 33, of 329 Southern Comfort Drive in Parkton, was killed early Saturday when the ATV she was a passenger on hit a ditch and overturned, Sgt. Daniel Hilburn said.

Thrasher was thrown from the ATV along with the driver, Reuben Lewis Pate, 45, of the same address, Hilburn said. The four-wheeler was traveling though a bean field near Parkton Tobermory Road at about 1:22 a.m. on Saturday when it struck a ditch about 6 feet deep, overturned and landed on top of both Pate and Thrasher, Hilburn said. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Thrasher and Pate were transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where Thrasher was pronounced dead, according to Hilburn. Pate was treated and released later that day, Hilburn said.

Damage to the ATV was reported at $200. The District Attorney’s Office will decide if charges are brought, according to Hillburn.

A 15-year-old died on Friday, a day after he was thrown from a vehicle, Hilburn said.

Dakota Hammonds, of 3182 W. Great Marsh Church Road in St. Pauls, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by helicopter after he was thrown from a 2005 Toyota driven by Rocky Kurt Williamson, 29, of 3085 Covington Farm Road in Shannon, according to a report by Trooper David Raynor.

Williamson and another passenger, Frederick Jacobs, 30, of 232 Nantucket Road in Shannon, were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Williamson was treated and transferred and Jacobs was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Jacobs was the only one in the car wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The car was traveling north on Coy Road in St. Pauls at about 4:06 a.m. on Thursday when it ran off the road to the right. The driver over-corrected and the car crossed the road, ran off the road to the left, struck a ditch and came to rest upside-down in the road.

The car was destroyed, according to Hilburn. Charges are possible, according to the report.

The deaths bring to 24 the number of people killed on Robeson County highways this year.
