Swett-Smith
Aubrey and Betty Swett of Pembroke, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Chrissy Swett of Pembroke, to Michael Smith II, the son of Katherine Teal of Wilmington.
Swett attended The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and works for St. Pauls Elementary School.
Smith attended The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is employed at HHGregg of Fayetteville, while working on his Masters of Divinity.
The wedding ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 4 at Berea Baptist Church.
Rasmussen-Clark
Anna Louise Rasmussen of Lumberton, announces her engagement to Barry Curtis Clark, the son of Welford and Karen Clark of Lumberton. Anna is the daughter of the late Ronnie Rasmussen and the late Oleta Gibson.
Anna attended Littlefield High School and Robeson Community College and works at Anna’s Hair Salon. She is the granddaughter of Claude and Margorie Gibson of Laurinburg.
Clark attended Lumberton Senior High School and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He works for Williams Plant Services. Clark is the grandson of the late Jessie and Isadora Oxendine and Addie Nora Clark, all of Lumberton.
The wedding will be held at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin on July 28 at 4 p.m.
Locklear-Lowery
William and Rosa Locklear of Rowland, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mersade Locklear of Rowland, to Justin Lowery, the son of Anthony and Bridgette Lowery of Red Springs.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Samuel and Rosalie Hunt of Lumberton and Queen Ester Locklear and the late Gribby Locklear of Rowland. She graduated from Purnell Swett High School, attends Robeson Community College and works for Piggly Wiggly.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Timothy and Shelia Locklear of Lumberton and Hazel Lowery and the late Harvey Lowery of Red Springs. He graduated from Red Springs High School, attends The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and works for CVS Pharmacy.
The wedding ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Pentecostal Church of Christ. The reception will follow at Hardin’s Lodge in Red Springs.
Locklear-Locklear
Carolyn Johnson Locklear and Jimmie Locklear of Pembroke, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Keenya Locklear, to Timothy Ryan Locklear, the son of Tonya and Timothy Locklear of Pembroke.
Keenya attended Purnell Swett High School and received an associate’s degree in Nursing from Robeson Community College and a bachelor of science in Nursing from Chamberlain School of Nursing. She is a former member of the Lumberton Rescue Unit and currently works as a travel nurse in the emergency department at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Keenya is also employed with Southeastern Regional Medical Center and Scotland Memorial Hospital. She is the granddaughter of the late Martha and the late Leroy Johnson and the late Pauline and the late Willie Sam Locklear, all of Pembroke.
Timothy attended Purnell Swett High School and received basic law enforcement training from Robeson Community College. He works as a police officer with the town of Rowland and as a volunteer firefighter with Pembroke City Fire Department. He also volunteers with the Pembroke Rescue Squad. Timothy is the grandson of Mary Elizabeth Pevia of Pembroke, and Clyde Locklear, Jr. of Red Springs.
The wedding ceremony will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. at The Metro Room in Fayetteville.
WEDDING
Bullard-Locklear
Natasha Lynn Bullard and Lawrence Travis Locklear, both of Pembroke, were married June 16 at 4 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church in Pembroke. The Rev. Chris Hunt officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Doris Locklear and the late Cecil Lane Bullard, and the granddaughter of the Rev. Wolfheally and Eva Mae Bullard and Annie Lois Oxendine and the late Luther Curtis “LC” Oxendine, all of Pembroke. She graduated from Purnell Swett High School and Wayne Community College and works as a dental hygienist for Collins and Lowery Dental in Pembroke.
The groom is the son of Merle Travis Locklear and Mary Ann Strickland, and the grandson of the late John Archie and Roberta Locklear and the late Lawrence Jeffery and Pearl Strickland, all of Pembroke. The groom was also represented by his paternal aunt Diane Jacobs of Pembroke. He graduated from Purnell Swett High School, North Carolina State University and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and works as the University Web Publisher for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
The bride was escorted by her brother Cecil Aaron Bullard.
The matron of honor was Bettina Bullard. Bridesmaids were Crystal Cummings, Deandra Scott, Carol Strickland and Becky Willoughby. The Honorary Bridesmaid was Sandy Bullard. The flower girl was Chloe Chavis.
The best man was Joseph Simmons, and the groomsmen were Joshua Bullard, Robert Dial, Aaron Locklear and Joshua Scott. The ring bearer was Waylen Willoughby, and the ushers were Equistian Chavis and Jason Sampson.
Music was provided by vocalists Vanessa Locklear and Kimberly Strickland and pianist, David Burns. A traditional Native honor song was sung by Bo Goins. The sound system was operated by John Sweeney.
The wedding was directed by Kandice Kinlaw.
Flowers and decorations were provided by Ray Locklear of Locklear’s Florist.
Bridal photos were taken by Bettina Bulliard, while the wedding and reception photos were shot by Miriam Chavis. The formal photos were taken by Raul Rubiera, Jr. of Rubiera Studios. The program attendant was Lauren Oxendine and guest book attendant was Sheena Sampson.
Videographers were Warren Love and Tasha Oxendine.
Following a seven-day cruise to the Western Caribbean, the couple resides in Pembroke.
The reception, hosted by the couple, was held at the Holiday Inn Lumberton.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the father of the groom, was held at Swank The Bistro in Lumberton on June 15.
A wedding shower was hosted by Lisa Oxendine and Josephine Klingensmith at the residence of Ricky and Lisa Oxendine in Lumberton on April 21.
A lingerie shower hosted by Bettina Bullard, Deandra Scott and Becky Willoughby was held at Swank The Bistro on May 11.
A wedding shower was hosted by Tasha Oxendine and Carol Strickland at the home of Huey and Mary Alice Chavis in Lumberton on May 19.
A bachelorette party was held in Charlotte while a bachelor party was held in Wilmington, both the weekend of May 25.
The UNC Pembroke Office of Advancement hosted a luncheon for the couple at San Jose Mexican Restaurant in Pembroke on June 12.
