LUMBERTON — A Lumberton man has been arrested and charged with shooting his girlfriend in the neck after an argument on Tuesday, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jason Brandon West, 27, of Pine Log Road, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the shooting of Akishia Jones, 32, of Piney Grove Road. He is being held at the Robeson County jail without bond.

Jones was shot in her home at about 4 p.m. after the couple argued, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch. West threatened to kill Jones, pulled out a pistol and shot her in the neck, Branch said.

Jones ran to the home of a neighbor, who drove her to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Branch said. She was treated and transferred to another facility.

What is going on here in Robeson county? 5 people murdered since Saturday and this man tried to make it 6!! Something is seriously wrong. They say the economy has a big part but I've been unemployed for a while now and I've not beat, robbed, or murdered anyone! I'm just not understanding!!!!! Hoping and praying that the things that has transpired here in the last 5 days really openes the eyes of the jurors that they pick in these cases to come and the citizens of our county. It's time for us to come together and be strong enough to do the right thing!!!!! No bond for those that rob, shot, kill, and sell drugs!!!!!!
