LUMBERTON — The Robeson County History Museum will hold the opening of “From Mother’s Hands; An Exhibit of Handcrafts of Eva Pat Seawell” and “Selected Works of Keith Barker Simmons,” at 101 S. Elm St. on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
“From Mother’s Hands” is a collection of paintings by Seawell, who started the art form at 80. “Selected Works of Keith Barker Simmons,” exhibits special pieces Simmons created in honor of Coach Dean Smith and in memory of Coach Jim Valvano.

LUMBERTON — WKML will host a free performance by the country band, HighValley, at Biggs Park Mall from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The country band has opened for Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, and will be signing autographs after the performance.
LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center will hold WKML’s Singer-Songwriter Showcase on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at 315 N. Chestnut St. with performances by Jason Matthews, Ira Dean and Sherrie Austin.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m.. Tickets are $15 for general admission, and $30 for VIP admission, which includes a meet-and-greet dinner with the artists at Lumberton Ford, as well as an early seating.
Tickets can be purchased at the Carolina Civic Center or Biggs Park Mall.
LUMBERTON — The city of Lumberton and the Lumberton Police Department will hold a National Night Out featuring the band, Big Daddy Drive, on Aug. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Lumberton on the plaza.
National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen neighborhoods through police-community partnerships in order to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, and to build support and participation in local anti-crime programs.
There will be free hot dogs and ice cream, a fire safe house and police exhibits. Children can cool off in the fountain.
LUMBERTON — Classic Cruisers Car Club will hold “Made in the Shade,” a car and truck show, on Aug. 11 at San Jose Mexican Restaurant at 5039 Fayetteville Road. Registration, which costs $25, is from 8 a.m. to noon, and the cars will be judged at 3 p.m.
Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. All vehicles must be registered.
