To the Editor,

I would just like to commend James Hardin, executive director of Lumbee Regional Development Association, on the fabulous job that he, the LRDA board of directors and the staff do in the planning and oversight of the Lumbee Homecoming. Again, for 2012, it appeared that we had more participation and attendance than ever; and it was carried out without incident. I enjoyed seeing Mr. Hardin and all those involved in bringing together our local and out-of-area Lumbee people.

The extra time that they put in really paid off with the success of the 2012 Lumbee Homecoming. They have truly carried out the initial goal of the original homecoming committee of 1968 in the continuing of bringing local and out-of-area Lumbees together to renew their sense of heritage and identity as a tribe. Further, they strive to share our community empowerment for our Lumbee People.

They all should feel proud of themselves, knowing that their ambitious achievement in carrying out the Lumbee Homecoming will be a memorable occasion and make a positive difference with our Lumbee people now and in the future. So with great gratitude and pleasure, I would like to say “Job well done.”
