Staff report

Crews from Fulcher Electric work to replace a Progress Energy pole at Interstate 95 Exit 22 today. The pole was snapped when a truck struck it at about 1 p.m. after a two-vehicle accident, according to Lumberton police Officer Joe Thompson.

The truck was traveling south on U.S. 301 when another truck exited the off-ramp, ran a red light and struck the truck on the driver side, Thompson said. The driver of the truck was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center by ambulance, but was not seriously injured, according to Thompson. Thompson said the driver of the second truck, who was not injured, will face a charge for running a red light.

A representative from Fulcher Electric said the pole could take three to five hours to replace.

I wish the headline would have been Truck Snaps Pole. Would have been more amusing.
