RED SPRINGS — The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the killer of a Red Springs man who was found dead in his front yard on Sunday morning, according to sheriff’s Capt. Anthony Thompson.

Dennis Tipton, 47, of Clifford Road, was found by his brother, Dean, who lives next door, Thompson said. Deputies were called to Tipton’s home at about 8 a.m. but Thompson said he didn’t know how long Tipton had been dead.

Thompson said Tipton did not die of natural causes, but that the cause of death would be determined by an autopsy.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3100. Callers don’t have to give their name.

Sheriff’s deputies this morning were on the scene of a murder in the Saddletree community. The Robesonian will update this story as information becomes available.
