LUMBERTON — A Lumberton businessman is being held at the Robeson County jail under a $5 million bond for trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine, according to court documents.

Donald Bruce Emanuel, 40, of 1583 N.C. 211 West, is charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine and a charge of maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place, according to a warrant served on Aug. 10 by a Robeson County narcotics agent. His arrest followed a raid at his home that day.

According to the warrant, Emanuel kept a 2000 Chevy Silverado for the purpose of keeping and selling of cocaine.

Emanuel is the owner of Bruce E. Enterprises, a company that does excavation work. According to court documents, he and his wife, a medical professional, had a reported income of $16,000 a month; expenses of a house payment, utilities, and car expenses were reported at a total of $5,000.

Emanuel was declared to be financially unable to hire an attorney and is to be appointed a public defender, according to the documents. Emanuel’s probable cause hearing is set for Sept. 4.

The State Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case, according to court documents.

Emanuel was charged with misdemeanor larceny in 1995.

He looks like a caucasian person to us.

Race again.. Ya not gonna beat me at my game. Somebody needs to check a stop watch on how fast the RACE card will be tossed out. How come we don't ever hear whites say: "they got him cause he white"?...

Drugs people, not his race... where's the anger about that.
