The fourth annual Two Rivers Classic Golf Tournament, a warmup for the annual football game between The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Fayetteville State, will be held on Friday at Pinecrest Country Club.

Registration for the tournament will begin at 8 a.m., with play to begin at 9 a.m. The format is four-person captain’s choice, and the entry is $75 per person, or $300 for a team.

There will be a pre-round meal provided by McDonald’s, and a post-round meal provided by Sodexo.

The proceeds from the tournament benefit the Braves Clubs, UNCP’s official athletic booster club.

There are two sponsorship levels — Gold, which includes the entry of a foursome, and Silver, which does not include an entry of a foursome.

The game between UNCP and Fayetteville State will be played on Sept. 8 in Pembroke at 6 p.m.

The next Senior Shootout is Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The ninth annual Paul Elam McCarthy Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 8 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the Centennial Campus at N.C. State. It begins with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start.

The tournament honors Paul Elam McCarthy, who grew up in Lumberton, graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Zoology, and was in dental school at Boston University when he was killed in an automobile accident in 2003. It raises money for the Paul Elam McCarthy Memorial Scholarship Endowment to help a student at N.C. State who is pursuing a career in medicine or dentistry.
