PARKTON — A 44-year-old Parkton man wanted on 40 outstanding warrants for crimes spanning three North Carolina counties was arrested on Monday after he was found hiding in a linen closet at his home, authorities say.
Isaac Nesby, of 58 Cold Camp Drive, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. by federal marshals, Robeson County sheriff’s deputies and Parkton police, according to Brandon Taylor of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force.
In Robeson County, Nesby faces 26 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and a charge of felony fleeing to elude arrest stemming from an incident on March 14 during which he crashed his vehicle head-on with a Hoke County school bus after leading police on a high-speed chase, Taylor said. Four students were injured in the collision; Nesby suffered fractures in both legs and a broken hip.
Nesby also faces two charges of threatening phone calls and three counts of failure to appear as well as trafficking opium and assault on a female in Robeson County. In Scotland County, he is charged with three counts of breaking and entering and felony conspiracy; he faces a charged of felony fleeing to elude arrest and communicating threats in Hoke County.
Nesby has a lengthy criminal history, including felony convictions that date back as far as 1990. He was captured in Cumberland County in 1997 after escaping from a South Carolina jail, according to previous reports. He was released from prison in March 2006 after serving a five-year sentence for armed robbery.
A Red Springs clothing store that Nesby owned was raided by law enforcement agents in February 2008 and he was charged with possessing counterfeit clothes and CDs. On April 5, 2008, his clothing store, Nesby Designs, burned to the ground in a fire that has been determined to be arson, according to previous reports.
