LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Republican Party will hold a rally on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bill Sapp Recreation Center for people who might be interested in joining the party.

According to David Edge, the only Republican on the eight-member Robeson County Board of Commissioners, the local party is seeking to get Democrats who are unhappy with their party’s “no-God, same-sex marriage platform” to switch to the Republican Party or unaffiliated.

A magician, Joel Givens, will perform during the event, which is themed “Experience the Magic of the Republican Party.” There will be free hot dogs and drinks. Donations of $25 for adults or $5 for children are encouraged.

For information, call Edge at 910-258-1166 or Phillip Stephens, chairman of the county Republican Party, at 910-740-0493.

Appears to me that both platforms make one reference to "God", neither in a theological reference. Hope the folks attending will be told how the Republicans wish to cut their Medicare, raise their taxes, and use it to give more tax cuts to millionairs. Just what America needs.

Good, millionaires need tax breaks mr. poor person so they can expand their business and hire your neighbors. Not you. And further more, why is it any of your concern when a RICH person is allowed to keep more of HIS money? Stop being so jelous of another mans success.....

Somehow we've got to get the message out to the minority population. No, I didn't say we gonna cater to em, just get the message to em. Get em away from MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, local tribe lies, hip-hop radio stations, "Tom Joyner oh, oh oh, it's tha Tom Joyner morning show!... yep I used to live in Chicago. But these media outlets have destroyed the "un-... well, lets just say they don't know. I have a few ideas on how we can get them to at least show up. Have Foxy-99 do a live broadcast, give out free food, and lottery tickets, have a "lumbee pagent", and for the democrat church folks who wont gamble on the lottery, we could raffle off some tickets for a TV or something. 2 dollars for a chance to win a TV, well, at least it aint gambling.. Other than this I don't know how to attract democrats, heck I can't even talk to em without sticking my fingers in my ears. Oh well, at least we tried...
