Pembroke Day

rescheduled

PEMBROKE — Pembroke Day, which was scheduled for today, has been postponed because of the threat of bad weather.

It has been been rescheduled for Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of North Carolina of Pembroke’s quad between Old Main, Livermore Library and the Lowry Bell Tower.

The record number of student groups, vendors and health care providers that had signed up for the event will hopefully be available next week, according to Scott Bigelow, university spokesman.

The town of Pembroke and UNCP come together at the annual event, which features local performers, health screenings and food from area eateries.

County GOP

to hold rally

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Republican Party will hold a rally on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bill Sapp Recreation Center for people who might be interested in joining the party.

A magician, Joel Givens, will perform during the event, which is themed “Experience the Magic of the Republican Party.” There will be free hot dogs and drinks. Donations of $25 for adults or $5 for children are encouraged.

Pet adoption

LUMBERTON — Franny’s Friends will hold a pet adoption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Frank’s Furniture at 2400 Fayetteville Road. Donations of of dog and cat food, cat litter, blankets, and other old and new items are greatly appreciated.
