Staff report

MAXTON — The Robeson County Sheriff’s Department is waiting on the results of an autopsy to help investigators determine what killed a man who was found dead in his Maxton home on Wednesday.

The death of Timothy Ray McCutchen is being investigated as a murder, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch. McCutchen’s body was found at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the living room of his rental home at 12096 N.C. 130, Branch said.

Branch said McCutchen’s landlord, who he also works with, found him lying dead when he went to pick him up for the day’s work. McCutchen apparently lived along in the home.

Branch said that the autopsy will determine how McCutchen died. McCutchen was born in 1967, but the date of his birth was not available, so he was either 44 or 45 years old. No other details of the death were available this morning.

The Robesonian has not received obituary information on McCutchen.
