LUMBERTON — The Lumber River Workforce Development Board recently held its annual Recognition Banquet, which recognizes businesses and people involved in the Workforce Investment Act, a program that addresses the employment and training needs of adults, dislocated workers and youths.
The following Lumberton businesses and people were given the following awards: Tredegar Film Products received the WIA Business of the Year award; Kimberly Butler received the WIA Adult of the Year award; Jessica Brown received the WIA Older Youth of the Year award; and Jessica Oxendine received the WIA Younger Youth of the Year award.
Durham White of St. Pauls received the Dr. Stanley A. Richardson award for the Workforce Development Board Member of the Year, named in honor of the late Dr. Stanley A. Richardson, an educator from Bladen County.
