meet today
LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Republican’s Women’s Club will hold its regular meeting today at 7 p.m. at Adelio’s restaurant in Lumberton.
Linda Daves, former chairman for the N.C. GOP, will be speaking on behalf of Dan Forest, candidate for lieutenant governor. Rep. G.L. Pridgen, who is being challenged by Democrat Ken Waddell in the Nov. 6 General Election in District 46, is also expected to speak.

Prescription
drop-off set
LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office will collect unused, unneeded and expired prescription drugs at Biggs Park Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as park of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
The day is intended to enhance safety by getting the old prescription drugs of the streets and protecting waters supplies. For information about ways to prevent prescription drug abuse and additional drop-off locations can be found at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/.
