He used his leadership skills to assist the church in any way that he could.
Although Blue was the grateful recipient of many honors, awards, and citations during his lifetime, he was so proud two years ago when the Philadelphus Cluster Group held a program and reception, honoring him for his many years of distinguished leadership in, and service to, the community.
Blue was preceded in death by a son, Ronald M. Blue; a son-in-law, Hubert Huling Jr.; seven brothers, Henry, Weldon, Johnny, Albert, William, Archie, and Lonnie Blue; and two sisters, Rebecca Blue McNeill and Lena Blue McDowell.

Blue Jr. and his wife Edna Earle of Raleigh; and Herbert Blue of Lumberton; and two daughters, Marilyn Blue Huling of Knightdale and Debra Blue Graham and her husband Joseph of Red Springs; and a sister, Catherine Blue Pearson of Red Springs.
