Copeland Burdell “Buddy” Still Sr., 64, of Goodview, passed away on Oct. 1, 2012.
The memorial will be 7 p.m. today at Diamond Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. Ken Butterworth officiating.
He was born May 15, 1948, in Sweden, S.C. He was the son of the late Hubert Jerome Still and Ida Copeland Still.
Buddy was the retired owner of Still Mobile Home Services and was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Cynthia Lynn Still; a son, Copeland B. Still Jr.; three grandchildren, Kellyn Redding Still, Corland Taylor Still, Colby Tanner Johnson, all of Tobaccoville; his son’s mother, who remained his good friend, Phyllis Still; a sister, Mary Poindexter of King; a brother, H. Jerome Still of Winston-Salem; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends following the service at church.

Oliver “Booger” Powers Jr., 62, of 2007 Yarborough Road, died Oct. 2, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Calvary Cornerstone Church, Pastors David Hodge and Don Goforth officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs.
Powers was born in Robeson County on Feb. 12, 1950. His father, Oliver Junius Powers Sr.; a brother, James Henry Powers; and a sister, Betty Jean Godwin, preceded him in death.
Powers retired from Lumbee River Electric and attended Calvary Cornerstone Church in St. Pauls. Booger lit up the room with his amazing charm and charisma. Those who knew him will remember his blue eyes, friendly smile, and his amazing ability to make those around him find humor in life.
Survivors are his wife, Faye Powers of the home; three daughters, Melissa “Missy” Powers of Wilmington, Tina Powers of Southport, and Lauren Powers of Hope Mills; a stepdaughter, Robin Hunt of Raeford; a stepson, Anthony Caldwell of St. Pauls; his mother, Vera Powers of St. Pauls; a brother, Charles Powers and his wife Julia of Angier; two sisters, Brenda Taylor and her husband Frank of St. Pauls and Faye Harrell and her husband Bob of St. Pauls; a brother-in-law, Gene Godwin of Rocky Mount; and honorary sister, Cathy Carter and her husband Donald of Parkton; seven grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 E. Fourth Ave., in Red Springs.

Ventrice L. Oxendine, 65, of Charlotte, passed away Oct. 4, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
The funeral celebrating his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home, Bro. Jerry Rowe conducting the service. Burial will be private.
Vince was born May 3, 1947, in Robeson County to the late Quessie O. Knuckles. When he was 14, he moved to Charlotte and made it his home. Vince enjoyed all sports, especially NASCAR. Whether it was driving a race car or just being a spectator, he loved it all. He was the type of guy who never met a stranger, and was a friend to all, but the most important thing to Vince was family. His grandchildren were everything to him.
He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, Sherry Oxendine; three daughters, Renee Mangan (Freddy), Tammy Oxendine (Jesse Daniels) and Caroline Reisinger (Mark), all of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Cameron, Brandon, Jessica, Nick, Ava Grace; a great-grandson, Jaylen; five brothers, Bryan, Russell, Steve, and Joey Knuckles; two uncles; a aunt; and numerous loving cousins and friends.
His family will receive friends for two hours before the service beginning at noon.
The family asks that in appreciation for the heartfelt love and support extended their family that memorials be sent to Presbyterian Hospice, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. ,28233 in loving memory of Vince.

Virginia Guyton Smith, of Lumberton, passed away Oct. 3, 2012, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. LeRoy Burke and special friend Donald Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Bladen County to the late Walter Guyton and the late Monnie Brisson Guyton. She previously worked as a retail clerk at Belk’s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Rudolph Smith; a son, Wayne Guyton Smith; and a grandson, Jackson Griffin.
Smith is survived by two sons, Kenneth Smith and wife Huvetta and Warren Gene Smith and wife Alberta, all of Lumberton; a daughter, Patricia Griffin and husband Jack of Raleigh; a daughter-in-law, Anga Smith of Sophia; a sister, Janie Storms and husband Roscoe of Hampton, Va.; five grandchildren, Phil Smith, Melissa Bruce, Cressa Allen, Kendra Bentley, and Josh Smith; two adopted grandchildren, Allie Eyers and Casey Eyers; and two great-grandchildren, Bernadette Bruce and Vince Bruce.
