Brantley Oxendine Sr.

Pembroke

Surrounded by family and friends, Brantley Oxendine Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2012, at 5:27 p.m. at Southeastern Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Union Chapel Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oxendine Cemetery on Oakgrove Church Road.

The youngest child of the late John Wesley and Cortelia Oxendine, he was born Jan. 25, 1940, in the Union Chapel Community on the family farm where he lived until his death. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brantley as he was affectionately known was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton; four sisters, Hannah Blue, Myrtle Cummings, Pattie Cummings and.Vashti Dimery.

He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 54 years, Maxine L. Oxendine of the home; four children, Rick Oxendine of Greensboro, Victoria O. Frandock (Chris) of Gibsonville, Brantley Oxendine Jr. of the home of Pembroke and Kenneth Oxendine (Denee) of Lumberton; a brother John Ander Oxendine (Ella) of Pembroke; four sisters, Nora Oxendine, Bellehaven, Va., Shirley Chavis and Rose Hill of Pembroke, Susie Oxendine (Alton) of Chesapeake, Va.; a special niece, Rose Marie Strickland (Leon) of Lumberton; four grandchildren, Caroline, Sarah, Kristen Frandock of Gibsonville and Austin Oxendine of Lumberton; a special great niece, Toni Strickland of Lumberton; and children he loved and helped to babysit, Amy, Jessie, Veronica, Emily, Justin, Katrina, Kelsey, Matthew, Joshua, Vincent and Amber, all of Pembroke; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton.

Shirley McMillan, 88, of 117 Church St., died Oct. 5, 2012, in FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care.

The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic, formerly Westside Baptist Church, Deacon Alexander Vicente officiating. Burial will be in Pheladelpus Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Robert McMillan Sr. of the home; a son, Bobby McMillan Jr. of Pinehurst; six daughters, Sandy Haines of Red Springs; Mary Malloy of Denver; Kathy Hall of Parkton, Shirley Britt of Red Springs, Betsy Stutts of Red Springs, Joanna Bullock of Jacksonville, Fla; two sisters, Jean Pelletier of Massachusetts and Patricia Paradise of Margate, Fla; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crumpler Funeral Home.

Kenneth Edward Tedder, 59, of Parkton, died Oct. 5, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cumberland Memorial Gardens Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Tedder; two daughters, Denise Woods and Tammy Lovette; three sons, Stephen Tedder, Stewart Tedder and Sam Porter; a mother, Tillie Tedder; two brothers, Billy Tedder and Thomas Tedder; three sisters, Carolyn Hardin, Karrine Foss and Patricia Smith; and 13 grandchildren.

Ruthie Inman

Maxton

Ruthie Mae Inman, 81, 22890 W. Rockingham Road, formerly of Fairmont, died Oct. 4, 2012, at Southeastern Hospice House.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Aaron Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

He is survived by five sons, Opher Inman Jr., William Inman and Daniel Inman, all of Winston-Salem and James Inman of Oxford; and a daughter, Annie McNeil.

The visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at L.E. Funeral Home.
