PEMBROKE — Friday’s last performance in the Nostalgia Concert Series at Givens Performing Arts Center will feature two old hats in beach music.

The Catalinas and the Fantastic Shakers will perform at GPAC Friday beginning at 8 p.m.

The Catalinas has been a popular regional group that was formed in Charlotte in 1957. It has performed its hit songs, “You Haven’t the Right,” “Facts of Love” and “Summertime’s Calling Me,” at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion numerous times over the years.

The Fantastic Shakers has also had its share of regional success. Since the band got together in 1978, it has performed more than 6,000 engagements, including 400 wedding receptions and 700 conventions. Its regional hit, “Myrtle Beach Days,” helped propel the five-person group to recognition across the state.

The Catalinas and the Fantastic Shakers will perform at GPAC Friday at 8 p.m. Call the Givens Box Office at (910) 521-6361 or (800) 367-0778. Tickets are $23 for zone 1, $25 for zone 2, $12 for children, $15 for faculty and $5 for UNCP students.
