LUMBERTON — A 29-year-old Maxton man is being held at the Bladen County jail after kidnapping a Lumberton man at gunpoint and driving that man’s car on a two-county chase, according to Lumberton police’s Sgt. Harold Jackson.
The Robesonian has elected not to identify the Lumberton man who was kidnapped.
The victim, who is 50 years old, was getting out of his car at a grocery store at about 10 p.m. when Jamie Ray Cummings, of McC0llum Road, Maxton, approached him with a gun and forced the man into the passenger’s seat and drove away, Jackson said.
Cummings drove the vehicle around Lumberton before he was forced to stop at a checkpoint at the intersection of 10th Willow streets, where the victim was able to open the passenger’s door and place his feet on the ground, Jackson said. When police began to question Cummings, Cummings sped off, leaving the man he had kidnapped behind, Jackson said.
Lumberton police pursued Cummings into Bladen County, where they were assisted by Highway Patrol and Bladen County sheriff’s deputies, according to Jackson.
Cummings is charged with robbery, kidnapping, fleeing to elude arrest and DWI. He is being held at Bladen County jail on $500,000 bond.
Additional details were not available as the police report had not been completed.
You shot yourself in the foot with your stupid comment in regards to crime stats. The major crime stats that the Lumbees and Whites are affecting..is in RobCo (the immediate area)...which is where we're all talking about.
As i've said before they have been flooding the headlines for months.

The Lumbees and Whites have flooded the headlines with crime in the past few months. With men, women and kids burning homes and barns, killings, molesting kids, carjacking, kidnapping and drug dealing just to name a few of the headlines. All these crimes take place in their own community's.
You want to talk percentages? They have the higher percentage overall.
What do you really know about the Black community outside of what you read Ross?
Your comment should be generalized about the crime in RobCo period!! Crime has no color. But it appears your mind can't exspand that far. If you're teaching your kids to think like you...you're just creating a litter like the one you came from.
