Staff report

LUMBERTON — A Lumberton teenager has been charged with shooting and killing a 33-year-old man at a gas station earlier this month.

Orlando Gaddy, 18, of 777 Quail Run Road, was arrested Friday and is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ronnie Glenn Martin, according to Lumberton police Sgt. Harold Jackson.

Gaddy was arrested at his home without incident, Jackson said, and is being held at the Robeson County jail on $250,000 bail.

Martin, of 125-A Lovette Road, was shot at about 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Gas and Go at 905 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to previous reports. He was taken by ambulance to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Lumberton Detective Al Collins led the investigation.

People are quick to judge someone and write harsh and rude comments. No one on this website is God and no one but God has the last say so. No judge, no LPD or no DEA. And your right there was a misprint... 1st Mistake, and 2nd mistake they have a innocent man and I know that for a fact. So before you judge something get some facts. What happen to innocent until proven guilty. I hope everyone with these negative comments have a son or a daughter or a love one in the paper for something and their family receive such harsh comments and I wonder how it would feel than. And most likely one of y'all do have someone that's on a bad path, but trying to make it seem like your life so good . May God be with you all, cause one day you will see how it feel to get someone you love name dragged in the mud. I love you Orlando Gaddy and you will be home soon.

This is the same Orlando Gaddy that was in the paper a few weeks ago for being shot at a Columbus County Club? The same Orlando Gaddy that was in the paper a few months ago after being shot? So this is the 3rd time making the paper? Seems like he's the one dragging his name through the mud. He's always the victim, huh? What business did he have hanging around a convenience store at night? If he was a productive citizen, he'd be home getting ready for work or school the next morning. You're such a concerned family member, where was the concern when he was getting in all this trouble? Now you're mad because citizens are on here telling the truth because we're TIRED of the criminal behavior in RobCo. May God be with you.

@2mature... Great points... And there is much more to be added... But, to satisfy all his supporters... We will just let him sign his way out! Because he is innocent... He is just being picked on by law enforcement. . . Because they have no other crimes to solve... But if he make bond and hurts their family member, the judicial system will be scrutinized by this same individual who was a supporter. I say triple his bond and charge whoever goes his bond for littering... Because all he or she would be doing in trashing the community.

Yes, this is the same Orlando Gaddy!!! He's had more face-time in the newspapers than the candidates for President!!! But wait!!! He is an innocent victim.....He is only playing the cards his parents,... if he knows who they are???? and society has dealt him!!! He has not been given a fair chance at life. Nobody has given him a fighting chance or the support he has needed since his birth. He is only doing the things he has seen his family and friends have done his whole life.....Take what you want if they won't give it to you no matter what the cost,...even if it's your own life!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Give him the "CHAIR"...and send him to see his real maker!!!!

What a waste of a life. This young man (if guilty) traded the rest of his life, and his victim, for a few cartons of cigs, and whatever else little bit of cash or merchandise he carried out of that store. Life is a succession of choices. This turkey doesn't make good choices. Take him out of the gene pool.

Great job L.P.D! Now we need to shift attention to our judicial system that let's violent offenders out. I know that the jails are overcrowded but really!!! If enough people put enough fire under the feet of our judges maybe things can change.

On another note, this young man is 18!! What could we have done as a community to redirect this young man's life to a positive role. Was there no one who could have taken him under their wing and shown him another way of life.

There are many who are ready and willing to start name calling and mud slinging but if they put the same amount of effort into helping our youth thing will change. Most of the time these youth are missing something in their lives...love, positive male role models, etc. We need more positive male role models to step up and show them that they can be more...if they don't then the gangs will show them "love and acceptance", that's where the problem starts.

The real problem with doing all that is there are not enough "positive" role models to handle the caseload in RobCo...and the ones who are doing well have to keep it to themselves or risk being robbed or broke into...this county needs jobs that pay enough that a person should be able to afford to move out of their 1970s trailers and public housing...while robco is a prime location the staggering crime rate makes it very unattractive...this guy was no boy...he was 18, plenty old enough to make choices... now the 12 yr olds i saw passing weed back and forth when i went to get a bbq sandwich could use some guidance, this guy can use a chair, a sparkly one...

What in the world is that, "Predator"? Well, apparently yes. Now this goofy looking killer can spend his days in jail. Loser.

It is disturbing that he even has a bond! This is one of the most violent people individuals in Robeson County and all he received is a $250,000 bond... Which means his bond will be reduced significantly in the future. . . Normally there is no bond for first degree murder, which makes me think that there is a misprint about the charge or the staff was given the wrong charge...And if the charge is second degree... There still should be a higher bond...after all he is one the higher member of a violent gang... Great job LPD, now let's get to work and hit him with some other crimes that he has committed before he makes bond and kill another person!

Hope he finds a good "doo " person in the slammer. He will have a long time to look and choose. A lifetime, maybe, if he doesn't get the death penalty.
