LUMBERTON — The Saddletree Volunteer Fire Department will hold a plate sale on Friday at 516 Bucket Road starting at 10 a.m.

Barbecue sandwiches and chicken plates range from $3.50 to $7, and barbecue will be sold for $6 per pound.

Tribal hopefuls

to debate Friday

LUMBERTON — A debate featuring candidates running for Lumbee tribal chairman will be held Friday beginning at 6 p.m. at the University Annex of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The debate, sponsored by the Phi Sigma Nu Native American Fraternity, will be moderated by Jarrod Marshall Lowery.

There are three candidates for tribal chairman — incumbent Paul Brooks, former Chairman Jimmy Goins, and Lynn Jacobs, who also ran previously for the office and lost.

banquet set

LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Black Caucus will hold its annual banquet on Saturday at Holiday Inn at 101 Wintergreen Drive.

The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. The cost is $25.
