There was a three-way tie for first place Friday in a golf tournament at Pinecrest Country Club sponsored by the White Hill Baptist Church to benefit the family of Christian Locklear, who was born disabled and is confined to a wheelchair. But none of the 12 members of the three winning teams took home a prize, chosing instead to donate the winnings back to Locklear’s family.
The teams were Eric Carter, Dwayne Carter, Mick Tilley and Robert Crowder; Timmy Dial, David Lowry Jr., Brad Locklear and Lonail Locklear; and Greg Dial, Nick Dial, Willie Lowry and Mickey Strickland. All teams shot a 15-under-par 57.
Jamie Deese, Nick Dial, Greg Dial and Ashton Woods won prizes on the par-3’s for closest-to-the-hole.
The Pembroke Recreation Department Golf Tournament will be held at Pinecrest CC on Nov. 26, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $60 per player and includes lunch.
The tournament format is four-person captain’s choice. All proceeds from the tournament will support the Pembroke Recreation Department in its mission to provide support to the athletes, activities and programs at the Pembroke Recreation Complex.
