PARKTON — Work to replace a bridge on a road that lies in both Robeson and Cumberland counties could force drivers to take an alternate route for about four months, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Workers closed Parkton Tobemory Road at the line of Robeson and Cumberland counties on Monday in order to replace the bridge over Cold Swamp Creek, between Ballance Farm Road in Robeson County and Sim Canady Road in Cumberland County, according to the department.
A detour markd with sign will take vehicles to Council Road, and from there to Teds Road, Townsend Road, Sim Canady Road, and Yarborough Road. Engineers plan to have the project completed in 120 days.
