A musical group with strong ties to Robeson County survived an elimination ruond last week and is among the top three contestants in the Singing Family Face Off on “The Early Show” on CBS.
The Peay family will move onto the next round of the competition, which is next week. The event pits musical families competing against each other with the winner getting a recording contract with CBS Records.
The Peays beat the Lorentzens after the on-line votes were tallied. The two groups performed on “The Early Show” on March 4. Videos of their performances were posted on cbsnews.com where votes could also be cast.
Three families will compete Wednesday of next week, their videos will be posted and the public can vote for their favorite. The two winners will return to the Early Show the following week.
Although the four members of the group live in Greensboro now, they grew up with their mother, Joyce Peay, in Rowland and graduated from South Robeson High School.
