LUMBERTON — The sign-up period for the 2011 crop year Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments program, which provides assistance to Robeson and Scotland farmers who suffered crop losses due to natural disasters before Sept. 30, 2011, opened recently and will end on June 7, 2013.

To be eligible, a farm must have at least a 10 percent production loss on a crop of economic significance, and a policy or plan of insurance under the Federal Crop Insurance Act or the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program.

Production losses due to disasters occurring after Sept. 30, 2011, are not eligible. For information, call the Robeson/Scotland FSA office at 910-739-3349.

FAYETTEVILLE — Sarah Byrd has been named a credit analyst to the capital markets division of Cape Fear Farm Credit, an agricultural lending cooperative, which has offices in Robeson County.

Byrd is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management and two minors in Accounting and Agricultural Leadership.

LUMBERTON — Texas Steakhouse and Saloon will be giving free meals to anyone with a valid military ID all day Monday in honor of Veterans Day.

Up to five friends and family of veterans will also receive a 10 percent discount when dining with military members.
