Timothy Strickland Sr., 93, of 1294 Harpers Ferry Road, Maxton, departed this life on Nov. 21, 2012, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Prospect Holiness Methodist Church, the Revs. Perry Roberts and Willie Scott Jr. and Brother Eugene Bryant officiating. Entombment will follow in the New Prospect Church cemetery.

He was born in Robeson County on Nov. 11, 1919, and was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Alex Strickland.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Ruthie Jane Strickland; two sons,Truman Strickland and Timothy Strickland Jr.; a granddaughter,Tina Strickland; a great-grandson, Dustin Ramsay; and four brothers, Silas Strickland, Purcell Strickland, James Strickland and Paul Strickland.

Surviving are his sons, Verlin Strickland of Matthews, Donald Strickland (Carolyn), Ronald Strickland (Sandra), both of Maxton, and Gerald Strickland (Brenda) of Pembroke; daughters, Sue Ann Maynor (Rabon), Linda Tyler (Chester), Marie Moore (Fredrick), all of Maxton, and Janice Grady (Stan) of High Point; honorary brother, Benjamin Strickland of Charlotte; two sisters, Katherine Wolinski of Maxton and Martha Dial (Alvin) of Rowland; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at New Prospect Holiness Church.
