St. PAULS — One person was shot and killed and three others were injured in a home invasion that occurred at about midnight on Sunday, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch. One of those injured was in critical but stable condition at an undisclosed hospital.
Branch spoke with The Robesonian on Tuesday, but he had very few details as the Sheriff’s Office was closed for Christmas and Branch did not have access to the report on the crime.
Branch said that the dead person was one of multiple people who broke into a mobile home on Edge Grove Circle near St. Pauls.
“We’re pretty sure we think we know who it is, but we’re not 100 percent,” Branch said of the person who was shot and killed.
The other three people who were shot were at the home when it was invaded, Branch said, but he added that he did not know if they all lived there or were guests. He said one person was shot in the arm, another person was shot in the stomach and the third person was shot in the upper body.
He said two of the victims were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center and then transported to an undisclosed hospital. He said the third victim was still being treated at Southeastern Regional.
The Robesonian will update this story both on its website, robesonian.com, and in its print edition as more details are available. However, the Sheriff’s Office is closed until Thursday.
