This nation has lost God’s protection through our sins

To the Editor,

Ever since the Supreme Court ordered prayer and God out of public schools, Satan with his power of death moved in schools and the killing of school children has become a regular horrible event. Twenty children in a school in Newtown, Conn., were expected home from school but they went to Heaven from school. God trumped Satan.

President Obama said he was upset over the recent killing of school children, at the same time Obama sanctions the killing of thousands of innocent and helpless babies each year through abortion. Hypocrisy from Obama’s mouth.

The anti-gun group will condemn guns and want more gun laws. Hundreds of people are killed by drunken drivers in this country. No one condemns the automobile or the state for selling liquor to drivers. It is not guns or automobiles that are responsible, the nation does not have God’s protection because of the nation’s sins against God, for they are many.

I have always found the democratic party to be the biggest hypocrites ever. How can you stand behind partial birth abortion (awful, awful procedure, look it up!)and 4000 abortions deaths PER DAY in America but then whine and whine about 4000 American "volunteer" soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice, who stopped an evil dictator in Iraq from wiping out 1000's upon 1000's of Kurds and burying them in mass graves? Also, have so called Christian democrats ever heard of what the Lord does to the "luke warm"? Obeying God is just the same as obeying your parents. You don't get to pick and choose which rules to follow. You either obey Him or you don't!!! You get punished when you do not obey him or your parents!

There are a lot of idiots on here!!! I can ASSURE you all that just as many conservative, rich, entitled people get abortions as the poor, unemployed, liberal. Actually more of them do, but just like offshore bank accounts the conservatives will never come out and admit it!!

Wow, sir. As I recall, women have had the right to make decisions about their body since 1973 ( Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade).... Don't think you can blame Obama for that. I bet you also are against social assistance for the poor..... Since you speak of hypocracy, how many of those innocent helpless babies have you adopted? Or at the very least opened your home to foster? It's easy to stand on your soapbox and preach, huh? Actions speaks older than words..... ps~ giving $1 in the grocery store checkout line doesn't count.....

No we don't go out and adopt them, we have our own family to feed. What we try to do is step in BEFORE and nip it. Like when we preach abstinence and people like you tell us to mind our own business. We are the grown-ups here, we say don't do it or there will be consequences and they say "soo"... So after the get pregnant that's their punishment, a life of poverty. Like when we tell children not to do something, when they do, we don't just step in and make it easy for them, we make the kids suffer a bit. It's called "learning from your mistakes"..

You can play that guilt crap on people on you want "what have you done, adopt them, etc.." NO! It's not our problem. When people like you start making people pay for their mistakes they'll stop it.

Even God punished people.

Mr. Hardy, I assume based on your letter that God’s protection was on our Nation at some point. I guess you will have a difficult time finding when that was, because there have been injustices from the inception of this nation, from the genocide of Native Americans, to slavery, to the nightriders hiding behind their white sheets. So what time are you speaking of when you say God’s protection was on this Nation? Also based on your article, you probably believe that his protection was never upon other nations.

Benfrank: Umm, You slipped and forgot to mention the torture and slavery that the "Europeans" faced for centuries at the hands of the Romans.. I know that was long long ago, but so are the ones you mentioned. Funny how you don't think about the mean stuff those Europeans faced.....

Ps. Look man, EVERYBODY on the face of the earth has at one time been done wrong by a majority of others... It's just some rose up quicker and ended it sooner than others.....

pss. And you failed to mention that the Natives in this country were already murdering, raping, and had slaves from other tribes when this country was discovered. Christopher didn't do anything to the tribes that THEY weren't already doing to themselves.

GOD'S hand is over all nations. God does however allow these "injustices" to get our attention and have us cry out to him. I am Native American and I know that God used the expeditions to the "new world" to bring us Jesus. God hates all sin however the world still engages in sin and even justifies it with laws (Roe vs Wade) We all have a choice to serve God or self. God so loved us he sent His Son from eternity so we could be in God's family. Actions do speak louder, so go tell someone today of God's undeniable love..

Ross, My point in my response was not the suffering inflected, but the premise that Mr. Hardy made about "God's protection" on our nation. You are right, there have ben injustices for ever, point made and point received. However my point is, explain, prove, or show me where he i.e., God favors our nation above any other. It's true that our nation was founded upon certain Christian principles and yes the outside world views us a Christian nation, however this does in no way prove God's favor upon us. As I read the Bible it states that, "God is has no respect of persons" I guess we could include nations in that as well. EXCEPT ISRAEL IN THE OT
