Shots fired at ex-detective

PEMBROKE — Three gunmen fired several shots at a former Robeson County sheriff’s detective early Christmas Day after forcing their way into his home, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch.

The men forced their way into Ricky Locklear’s home on the 700 block of Eddie Road in Pembroke at about 1 a.m., according to Branch.

Branch said Locklear’s mother, who lives at the home, answered a knock at the door and the men forced their way inside. Once inside the men fired several shots as Locklear and his mother fled, Branch said. No one was injured in the shooting, according to Branch.

Branch said no arrests have been made.

Locklear left the Sheriff’s Office about 15 years ago and now works as an investigator for a Lumberton law firm.

Everyone, responding 2 the ignorance and rudeness shown by percykution is really a waste. This person is either 12 yrs old, extremely immature, or has mental issues he/she is dealing with. Children use name calling as a means of getting their point across and anyone with such a lack of compassion and regard for others obviously has to battle something internal. This went from someone's life being threatened by violence to a political joke. Nope... Don't waste your time on this one.

@lumbeewarrior: YOU are WRONG, son, dead wrong about my always posting "negative comments about any story involving the lumbee race". I've repeatedly stood by and praised Glen Maynor as one of the two BEST Sheriffs Robeson County ever had. I'll NEVER believe he did anything wrong, nothing any other Sheriff in NC hasn't done. And I've always said Paul Brooks is the best thing thats happened to the club, because he IS an honest man in my opinion. And Adolph Dial and Julian Pierce were the two greatest men that ever came out of Robeson County. Now as for Purnee The Pilferer, RoseManure, Jimmy "Jump Back" Goins, 'Ol "Brows" Revels, and that bunch, all I can say is BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. They are the biggest JOKE on earth, are sure to provide a laught a week, and I'll never let off of 'em.

It would have been funny if the old woman had pulled her own 9 and smoked all 3 of those homeys. As for Ricky, if he's working for a bunch of scumbag (spit) lawyers, who cares what happens to him.

evidently his mother that you so rudely referred to as a old woman certainly would. Who he works for isn't a reflection of the person he is. I bet if you got in trouble you would kiss the bottom of the scumbag lawyers feet if you had to. And yes I care what happens to him. So think before you speak. Don't know if you have kids, but some advice. Let your mind go a little futher than that mouth of yours. Might save you some heartache!!!!!

Why is it that everytime I visit this website and there is an article that involves anyone of the Lumbee race you have something negative to say. Life is precious and also fleeting. I left Robeson Co. 14 yrs ago due to the fact that my lifestyle was inconsistent with the conservative values of my community. It was people such as yourself whose words and actions brought me to tears on many occasions; yet I know a Man who dried them and gave me solace when I became homeless in a city far from home. Thank GOD that they both were not injured in this incident and just maybe it had something to do with his investagative work and someone wanted him dead due to the info he had gathered. I've read your comments for over 2 yrs and also tried to have your comments censored due to ignorance of most of them; as of today no more will I just read and go on without calling you out. A close and personal relationship with GOD and much prayer is what I would recommend for you. May GOD have mercy on you!!

A logical person should care... Cause he is working and not depending on the government to take care of him or selling illegal narcotics. Glad these GREAT individuals survived this incident.
