PEMBROKE — Tim Wright has been named the new manager for the FirstHealth Center for Health & Fitness-Pembroke. He has been with FirstHealth for four years, working at both the Southern Pines and the Pinehurst facilities.
Wright began his career with FirstHealth as a fitness coach, assessing fitness needs and goals and developing individual exercise plans for each member. After three years in the role, he was promoted to an exercise specialist position in the Pinehurst facility.
“This is a big step for me into a managerial role,” said Wright, an Army veteran “What a great opportunity to still have the opportunity to train while learning more of the business and operations side of the fitness center.”
When he left the Army, he began working at Pinehurst Resort, where he continued to work for six years until he took a job with FirstHealth. He completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke while working at FirstHealth.
The FirstHealth Center for Health & Fitness-Pembroke currently serves more than 500 members at varying ages. The center offers the latest in cardio and weight training as well as group exercise classes such as Zumba. The aquatics center has a heated pool and whirlpool.
“Tim has earned this opportunity to step into management,” said John Caliri, director of FirstHealth Centers for Health & Fitness. “For the last four years, he has stepped up in every circumstance we needed, working in Pinehurst and Southern Pines. His reliability, calm demeanor and steadfast dedication to helping people find a way to take charge of their own health through exercise make him a model for FirstHealth and the community. His personal story of service to his country, working his way through school while raising a family and always being ready to help out is inspiring.”
