LUMBERTON — The Robeson County History Museum will hold a meeting to discuss planning for the traveling Smithsonian exhibit “Journey Stories” on Monday at the museum at 5 p.m.

“Journey Stories,” a six-week exhibit that will be featured at the museum, uses images with audio and artifacts to tell the individual stories that illustrate the role travel and movement played in building American society.

LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center and Historic Theater will hold a performance by the Travelin’ McCourys, a bluegrass group, on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

The Travelin’ McCourys have collaborated with artists and bands like Vince Gill, The Allman Brothers, Dierks Bentley and Yonder Mountain String Band

PEMBROKE — The River Roots Arts Guild will hold a free arts showcase on Jan. 25 at the Chavis Center Annex at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

PINEHURST — The Ruth Pauley Lecture Series will hold a presentation by Green Beret Master Stg. Mark Vomund called “From Soldier to Survivor: One Man’s Life Changing Event” on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Owens Auditorium on the Sandhills Community College campus in Pinehurst.

Vomund will discuss his challenges after being wounded by an explosive in Afghanistan.
