MAXTON — Bonnie Sue Locklear Chavis, 78, went to be with her heavenly father on Jan 18, 2013.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the Revs. Horace Oxendine and Bobby Locklear Officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark family cemetery.

She was born on Nov 8, 1934, to the late William Henry and Ella Ree Clark Locklear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garvie Chavis; her daughter, Bonnie Carol Chavis; a grandson, Adrian Leif Chavis; her stepfather, John Z. Locklear; six brothers, John Winston, William Grant, Howard, Everette, Benjamin, and Benford Locklear; and two sisters, Corina Jacobs and Anna Collins.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Locklear (James) of Pembroke; two sons Thomas Fred (Sherlene), Rev. Timmy (Kimberly) of Maxton; and her loving grandson, Garvey Chavis of the home; a special friend of the family, Summer; a sister, Mary Sue Trogdon of Raeford; two brothers, William Locklear (Madie) and Retired Sgt. Major Henry Locklear of Huntsville, Ala.; a special niece and nephew, Rev. Horace and Sophia Oxendine of Maxton; a great-niece, Lauren Oxendine; a special friend, Lorraine Locklear of Maxton; two sister-in-laws, Hazel Locklear of Maxton, and Charsie McNeil of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brother-in-laws, James A. Jones of Maxton, and Stoney Chavis (Patricia) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchild children; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
