PEMBROKE. — The Robeson County Community Based Outpatient Clinic will host a Go Red for Women event at the clinic on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
The event is to educate female veterans about the signs of heart disease and how to make healthy heart life choices.
“We welcome all women veterans to come out and join us for complimentary refreshments, women’s heart information and get complimentary gift packages for attending,” said Sonya Oxendine, the center’s nurse manager. “Our staff will be wearing red colors to show support of the VA Goes Red for Women Campaign being held across the nation.”
Veterans interested in learning about VA health care and mental health services available to them are invited to stop by, meet the staff and ask about enrollment options.
The center is at 139 Three Hunts Drive in Pembroke. The event is open to all veterans and their families.

What the heck is wrong with that VA in Fayetteville! The so called leaders there are idiots, and its worse now Han when the last Director was run out of the place. Another thing that came out recently was how they have failed vets who have mental health problems. I know one man, a good man, who went to them for depression, was admitted a few days, discharged, and the VA didn't even bother to check on him. He came home and a few days later he shot his wife and then himself. I won't write a named, but many know who I am talking about.
So, vets, show up and demand the service that you have earned. Make this crowd in Fayetteville step up to the plate and fully man OUR clinic.
