LUMBERTON — Two Lumberton men are being held in the Robeson County jail after firing stolen semi-automatic handguns in a city neighborhood, according to Lumberton police Lt. Johnny Coleman.

Qualik Tisdale, 20, of 110 Olan Drive, and Daniel Earl Johnson, 23, of 1602 Robinson St., are each charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by felon, resisting a public officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

Tisdale, who is also charged with trespassing, is being held under a $31,500 bond. Johnson’s bond was set at $46,000. He is also charged with assault by pointing gun at a law enforcement officer.

Coleman said someone called the Lumberton Police Department on Monday and reported shots being fired near 203 Spruce St. When officers arrived, they saw Tisdale and Johnson running out of the back door and chased them, Coleman said. The two men were carrying four semi-automatic handguns between them, two of which had been stolen, he said.

According to Coleman, Tisdale is currently on probation and has previous convictions for discharging a weapon into an occupied property and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.

Johnson has a previous conviction for robbery with a dangerous weapon and was paroled in 2012, according to Coleman. He was wanted by the state Department of Corrections for parole violations, Coleman said.

Officers a job well done and Thank you.. A police officer's job is hard and stressful. Everyone can't be an Officer because we also need some spineless politicians too. Thanks again for your courage in danger. The people that would just shoot, would take the easy way out in any occupation... They talk a good game when the shoe is on the other foot.....

GOD IS THE TRUE JUDGE AND HE CAN SEE ALL!

I don't see anything easy about shooting a person but I could certainly understand if the officer(s) had done so in this case.

If you are in law enforcement you probably should find another line of work.

A person who breaks the law and then points a gun at uniformed police officers when they answer the call certainly sound capable of pulling the trigger. I don't want our officers to gamble with their lives and I don't think that their families do either.

I personally had alot of friends that I went to school with that were awesome athletes with scholarships to just about any college, good students, some were from good families, some were not. When they got about the same age as these guys, it's like they woke up one day and just decided to throw everything away on Armed Robbery, B&E, Larceny, Kidnapping, Murder, Rape. Good guys gone bad. You can play the victim or you can play the achiever, the choice is ALWAYS yours. Also, I have an immediate family member on the LPD who risks his life everyday...AND NOT ONLY BY CHASING AFTER THESE CRIMINALS, BUT BY HAVING TO PROTECT THEM TOO!!! Most people don't realize that. Deadly force is a last resort and I would hate to see someone lose their life, BUT I WOULD MUCH RATHER LOSE A DANGEROUS, SEVERAL TIME CONVICTED CRIMINAL/FELON THAT VOLUNTARILY COMMITED THESE CRIMES ...THAN TO LOSE YET ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER WHOSE MAIN JOB IS TO PROTECT YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES FROM PEOPLE LIKE THIS. The officer would have been justified.

Absolutely!

At what point does it become a threat? I mean the police were called because these guys were shooting within the city limits in a neighborhood!

The gun was pointed at an officer. I don't think that any officer should have to wait and play a guessing game with his life when he probably has family depending on him to come home from work safe!

I hate to hear about shootings and the loss of life but these guys knew what they were doing and they were a terror to the public!

Dear DavidJ

You sound like you've got head on straight. It's too bad you couldn't have more influence over him, and for the sake of everybody, I do hope the scales fall off his eyes in prison.

I am so very sick of seeing you g people, and yes I will go ahead and say it- young black males, who seem to go straight from an adorable toddler to gangsta in one step. The black families have g e to hell, the Indian families have gone to hell, and the same with the white families now. And who gets the blame? The liberals that will shove a check, snap card, free housing, etc out to you because there ain't no babydaddie in sight. I'm tired of being hourndaddie. I ain't your daddie! All you single women out there that have a 24 hour open sign hanging around your neck. You need to realize that I'd you want a baby, then you need to find a man who can pay for the baby, not just one that can make a baby!

He was lucky because if it would have been an officer that didn't give a damn your nephew probably wouldn't be here. All we can do is to continue to pray for all these young boys and girls around here.

One of you left wing democrat loser tell me which one of Obama's new "gun laws" would have prevented these two thugs from obtaining those guns and shooting up their neighborhood...

Guns and drugs seem to be an obsession with some.

Probably won't get near the punishment that they deserve!

Our citizens and officers shouldn't have to wait until soneone gets hurt or killed before people like this are dealt with.

Why in the world is Johnson still breathing if he pointed a gun at a law enforcement officer?

I would have blown him away with a clear conscience!

Last I checked there were openings at the LPD. Since you are so confident about what you would do in a particular situation. Our officer are trained and do an awesome job of protecting society, if it warranted shooting. They would have.

If I knew he had a gun and he just looked at me in a threatening manner, I would have shot first and asked questions later... Training or no training.

I SEE THAT YOU DONT HAVE A CLEAR "CONCIOUS" YOUSELF; LET ALONE THAT YOU CAN'T SPELL CONCIOUS. YES THEY WERE WRONG AND CONSEQUENCES SHOULD BE GIVEN, BUT NOT THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO HAPPEN. "FIRST LEARN HOW TO SPELL", THEN GIVEN YOUR DIFINITION OF BLOWN AWAY.

tellingitlikeitis -

So you would have waited to see if he was going to pull the trigger?

I think that most people would have felt like they were in harms way if a gun was pointed at them!

I applaud the officer(s) for doing a great job but I still have a hard time understanding the restraint that was obviously used in this case. I just read the story the way it was printed!

By the way, I am confident because I have experienced self preservation kicking in before!

You can practice tolerance while someone else is pointing a gun at you if you want but don't think for a minute that you represent the norm!

The American Heritage College Dictionary (third edition)

conscience 1a. The awareness of a moral or ethical aspect to one's conduct together with the urge to prefer right over wrong.

Not only can I spell the word but I also know how to use it in the proper context!

I paid attention in school!

It's scary when people don't have a clue!

By the way, concious is not a word unless you just invented it!

Guess a consonant and don't waste your money buying a vowel!
