To the Editor,
Well, it looks like the children on the Tribal Council are at it again. I am referring to the article in The Robesonian on March 6 about the Lumbee Tribal Council turning down Chairman Paul Brooks’ nomination of Steven Hunt for the position of tribal administrator. When Mr. Brooks first announced that he chose Mr. Hunt for the position of tribal administrator, I would have bet $100 that the Tribal Council would not vote him in, not because they feel that Mr. Hunt couldn’t do the job, but because they just don’t like Mr. Brooks.
Washington must be laughing their butts off at the Lumbee Tribal Council. No way would they give the Lumbee tribe recognition when the Ttribal Council can’t even get along with their tribal chairman. I sure wouldn’t vote for them.
Doesn’t the Tribal Council realize that they are only hurting the Lumbee people by acting like a bunch of spoiled brats? Chairman Brooks gave a statement through spokesman Alex Baker. My question is, if we have a tribal spokeperson, why do we also need a tribal speaker? Think about that.
