Anthony Bryant
MAXTON — Anthony “Bear” Bryant, 50, of Maxton, passed away suddenly in an automobile accident on March 18, 2013.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Union Light Baptist Church in Maxton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Anthony was born May 25, 1962, in Scotland County, the loving son of Mary Magdalene Bryant and the late Lacy McMillan. He was a dedicated husband and father that truly loved spending time with his family. He worked in textiles for Ellerey’s Manufacturing. Anthony served as a firefighter with the Queheel Volunteer Fire Department Station 15 in Maxton and he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Foster Bryant and a sister, Kay Cummings.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jeanette “Pockey” Smiling Bryant of their home in Maxton; his children, two sons, Vernell Lacy Bryant and Brandon Cummings, both of the home; a daughter, Brittany Lynnette Cummings of the home; his mother, Mary Magdalene Bryant of Pembroke; his brothers, James Earl Cummings of Laurinburg and Jack McMillan of Red Springs; his sisters, Nadine Mitchell of Pembroke, Quanita Cummings and Cindy Ambuioti, both of Bennettsville, S.C.; nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m Saturday at Union Light Baptist Church.
