LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Recreation Department will sponsor shag lessons starting Monday and continuing on June 14, June 21 and June 28. All classes will be held at the south end of Pine Street Activity Center, corner of Eight and Pine streets. No partner is required. Beginners classes will begin at 7 p.m. Intermediate classes start at 8 p.m. There will be a fee of $30 a person. Registration is at the first class. For information, call Tonya (910) 671-3881.

LUMBERTON — The “Anything Goes” recital for Donna DiChiara’s All About Dance will at 7 p.m. Saturday at Givens Performing Arts Center in Pembroke. Tickets are $8 for adults in advance, $10 at the door and $5 for children. For information, call (910) 738-7403.

PARKTON — A yard sale and railcar rides to benefit Sam Lawing, who needs a kidney transplant, will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the depot in Parkton. The train will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and depart every 30 minutes. Tickets are $4 a person.

SHANNON — A barbecue and fried chicken plate sale to benefit the fight against domestic violence will start at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Shannon community building on John Road. A plate with dessert costs $6; a combination plate goes for $7; and drinks are 50 cents. Delivery will be available for orders of five plates or more. For information, call (910) 315-9394.

LUMBERTON — Alive After 5 continues from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday with music by the Craig Woolard Band on the corner of Third and Water streets in Lumberton. The performance is the second in the five-concert series.
